Jagiellonian University is pleased to present the Floria\u0144ska Guesthouse \u2013 a cosy building in the very heart of Krak\u00f3w, in close proximity to the historic city walls, Floria\u0144ska Gate, and Barbican.<\/h3> <div style=\"background-color:;height: 15px\" class=\"nicdark_section\"><\/div>\n\t<div class=\"wpb_text_column wpb_content_element\" >\n\t\t<div class=\"wpb_wrapper\">\n\t\t\t<p style=\"text-align: right;\">The JU Guesthouse consists of two parts: a historic house dating back to the 15th century and a recently reconstructed nicdark_padding_28 nicdark_line_height_30 nd_options_first_font\">HISTORY<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"translation-block\">The earliest mentions of the building come from the 14th century, when it was owned by Matias Palior, and Floria\u0144ska Street was known as \u2018platea S.Floriami\u2019. An austere gothic stone portal  preserved in the basement dates back to this period. As time passed the building changed owners, and its architectural style also evolved. Finally, the house became the property of the Jagiellonian University, thanks to whose efforts the fa\u00e7ade was fitted with an impressive geometric sgraffito decoration, topped with the JU coat of arms authored by Ludwik Wojtyczko. This technique of wall painting, already known in the antiquity, became especially popular in the Renaissance period. They all appreciated the peace and quiet of the place, despite its location in the heart of the crowdy Krak\u00f3w Old Town, as well the warm and welcoming atmosphere.
